Messy Church Pilot
We hear that a lot of fun was had. Here are some photos. I will see if one of the busy people who went has time to
write a report. Watch this space...
I am pleased to hear from Paulina. The first session’s theme featured Noah and the flood.
This fits in nicely with lent. The connection is rather deeper than the 40 days that Jesus
spent in the desert and the 40 days that the flood covered the earth. There is a parallel with
the flood’s cleansing of the earth in the Old Testament story, and the
way that we are encouraged to turn towards God and restablish our
relationship with him. The children really enjoyed the session and
there were lots of Noah’s Ark related things to do. (And eat!)

Paulina writes: Our theme was Noah and the ark, so after the telling of the story, a
hymn and an action song the children split up amongst the activities. The first photo
shows Campbell playing with toys in our “toddler” corner – this is a mixture of toys
donated from an old mother and toddler group plus a large ark with animals borrowed
from Croxton school and a rather old ark brought by Angela and her grandsons to show
us.
Emma and Evangeline are
decorating biscuits in a
rainbow pattern with icing,
and other good stuff.
Skye helping to decorate
our rainbow cake – it was a
tray bake decorated with
various coloured fruit to
make a rainbow
(blueberries, strwberries,
pineapple, etc.) We all ate
some of the cake at the
end!
More children (some rather
older than others) decorating
biscuits. The children took
these home if they hadn’t been
eaten already!
